Boys and Girls State
Dear American Legion Post 130,
I hope your summer is going well.
Today is the last day of Boys and Girls State in California.
I am one of the delegates that this post sent this year. I wanted to thank you all for the amazing experience and opportunity that you were able to create for me, and all the other delegates that got sent this year. It was a fun, informative week that has left me with a deeper understanding of our state and many new friends. Serving on my city’s council, I helped to draft and pass many ordinances and got to work closely with my fellow delegates to create the best possible week for all of us. This program also helped to get me out of my comfort zone and try things that I would not have done otherwise. This is an experience that I will treasure for a long time, and will affect many other aspects of my life.
Thank you for making it possible and for all you do and have done for our community.
Sincerely,
Talia Eby
American Legion California Boys & Girls State is a coed program that offers a hands-on, realistic experience in civic responsibility to high school students prior to entering their senior year of high school. As our leaders of tomorrow, we attempt to instill in them the privileges, responsibilities and duties of American citizenship.
The American Legion California Boys & Girls State Program educates students entering their senior year of high school in their rights and responsibilities as citizens of the cities and counties in which they live, the State of California and the United States of America. The Program is sponsored by The American Legion Department of California. Delegates must be nominated by their respective high schools and selected by local, sponsoring American Legion Posts. Each year, the Program welcomes approximately 1000 Delegates and an all-volunteer Staff. Being selected and attending the program is a tremendous honor and comes at no direct expense to selected Delegates.
