Our Programs
The Nevada County All Veterans Honor Guard is a volunteer organization, composed entirely of veteran members, who perform final services for deceased veterans. These services involve the firing of three volleys, folding of the Flag and the playing of Taps for various types of memorial services, at various venues.
Our Color Guard is typically composed of four veterans, two bearing flags, and two bearing rifles. They perform various flag ceremonies, at various venues.
The Post has partnered with our local Chapter of the DAR to take part in the Wreaths Across America (W.A.A.) program. W.A.A places wreaths on veteran’s graves in December, to honor their sacrifices and to remember their lives.
Post 130 sponsors eight High School students, sending them to a Sacramento State College campus, along with students from other posts within California. They spend a week in the summer, between their junior and senior year, to learn about our government by forming and operating governments at the city, state and local levels.
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 130, Grass Valley sponsors five High School girls, who attend a week long Girl’s State program, during the summer prior to their senior year, on the Claremont College campuses. There they learn about government by establishing and running city, county and state governments.
